Frequently asked questions

What tyPE of therapy do you do?

I see individuals and couples (or family members) who are struggling with relationship problems, anxiety, depression, transitions, grief, trauma, stress-related chronic pain, and more. Multicultural and diverse clients are welcome.

what happens in couples therapy/Relationship Coaching?

I will meet with you and your partner to talk about reasons for entering therapy. We’ll collaborate to determine what we will be working on in the course of our time together. There may be times when I meet with each of you individually to get to know you, your situation and your struggle a bit better. In the beginning, consistency with couples is key. I find that weekly sessions are imperative to shift stuck patterns.

Where is your office?

I am currently only seeing clients through a Telehealth platform.

DO YOU OFFER FREE CONSULTATIONS?

For individuals I offer a free 20 minute Telehealth consultation. For couples, I require a 50 minute one-time consultation session to get to know your relationship struggles and to determine if we are a good fit. It’s important for you to feel like you are with the right counselor. A consultation is a way for you to assess whether I feel like right fit for you and for me to assess if I am able to assist you in getting the support you need.

How confidential is what I tell you?

Confidentiality is extremely important to me and make every effort to keep the information you share with me private. There are legal and ethical exceptions, which we can discuss in more detail during our first session.

What are your fees?

Please reach out by email at charaubreytherapy@gmail.com or send your information through my contact page for current rates for 50-minute or 80 minute sessions. Sessions payable by cash, check, or credit card. Payment happens at the beginning of each session.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not currently accept insurance. I am an out-of-network provider and I am happy to provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement, if needed. Please check with your insurance to find out the specifics of your out-of-network benefits.

What if I need to cancel?

Please call me at 503.422-8358 or send me an email with 24 hours notice. If less than 24 hours notice is given, the session fee will still be charged.

Can I text you?

Texting is fine for communication about scheduling. For personal communication, I prefer to talk in person or on the phone.

How long does therapy last?

It depends! Once we meet and can collaborate on your goals we will get a better sense of what your specific therapy journey will look like. I highly recommend weekly appointments to see the best results.

Can I contact you outside of office hours?

You can call 503-422-8358 and leave a message and I will respond as soon as possible. If you are having an emergency please contact the Multnomah County Crisis Line at (503) 988-4888 or dial 911.

Are there forms I should fill out?

Once we schedule an appointment, I will email you forms for intake, consent, and confidentiality. Please return the completed forms before your first session.

How does therapy end?

You are welcome to end therapy at anytime, for any reason. Most often I find that an open discussion about ending therapy is best for gaining closure and to help people transition into their next phase in a supported way.

What if I have a question that isn’t answered on this page?
